Another Internal Hard Drive or External?

I'm deciding between another hard drive or external hard drive for storage and a backup as I want to clear some stuff on my main hard drive and move it to another one.

 

The question is, which would be the best option? Going for another WD Caviar Blue 1TB to put in my system or a WD My Passport Ultra 1TB Portable Drive?

 

I'm going to be backing up storing most of the stuff that I don't need anymore, such as music files, photos from my DSLR that I have edited and no longer need, RAW files, photos from my phone and other things I can't think of right now.

 

and do you guys recommend going for a Samsung Storage drive? I saw that it's number one selling in external hard drives on amazon.

Internal hard drive is better in terms of durability and read/write speed (if external one is not usb 3.0, else they would be just the same).

I think, external hdd would be better for backups, 'cause u can backup your files and move it away, being sure that no s**t would happen to it.

WD one, so much hassle hooking up the HDD when u need it, cabels and shit. i almost got the same ex hdd. i love it.

I see the point you're trying to make, but if just incase I bought another HDD and it failed, then all my stuff would be gone

WD one, so much hassle hooking up the HDD when u need it, cabels and shit. i almost got the same ex hdd. i love it.

I don't mind the cables as I have them neatly tucked away but like I said above, what if the hard drive failed on me? I guess I gotta buy a HDD and an ext. hard drive to ensure I don't lose my stuff.

My internal hdd failed just in the evening 31 dec - it was quite disappointing

Don't bother urself with it - modern hdds are very durable.

 

P.S. I see, that u really wanna keep ur data safe, so...

Did u think about NAS? I personally have one (2 1 tb hdd in raid 1), I paid ~200-225$ to set it up.
