So, I decided I wanted to change to ubuntu, had a bunch of issues with drivers, screen setup and generally everything. But I didn't give up and got through all of those, 2 hours later I wanted to relax and play some counter strike but I noticed the refresh rate was off. Instead of 144hz it's at 60 I have tried to change with the Nvidia control panel but there is no option at all to change the refresh rate. So I googled and attempted at xrandr but when changing the settings it doens't apply for some odd reason. If screenshots are needed let me know!

Well, this pretty much answers the question - http://www.askubuntu.com/questions/567478/eye-strain-how-to-change-refresh-rate-to-120-hz
