Hi guys, I want to rip my CDs onto my computer, but I've got a problem; I can't find a CDDB base that's good.

I use Linux, so there is Sound Juicer that (I think) uses its own base, I can't find it anywhere in the settings. It's quite good but it doesn't detect what genre it is.

All other ripping software uses freedb that's just retarded, for example it put the artist name in the album name, so I got "Metallica - Metallica - Death Magnetic".

I can't find server addresses of other CDDB bases, could you please provide me with some good ones? :)

@Gachr Sound Juicer uses MusicBrainz database, that is one of the best and the most used in tagging. Amarok, Sound Juicer, Banshee and MusicBrainz Picard uses the same database.

You can try SongKong or Jaikoz, that uses Discogs database in addition to MusicBrainz. The best database that you will find is Gracenote's one, that you can use with iTunes, Winamp, some Sony stuff, but there is no Linux support.

Thanks, but which one is best in your opinion?

All I need is the server address to type into my CD ripping software (Asunder).

Sound Juicer (with MusicBrainz), fre:ac (with FreeDB), iTunes (with Gracenote), ...

What you can do is just rip everything that you want and after that use a music player (Clementine) or use a tagging program (MusicBrainz Picard) to do the proper tagging.

Thanks a lot!

Just one more question - do music players use their own databases or the ones that are written in the files?
