This is my first build ever and I'm very excited. I am still a noob at PC building and wanted to get some feedback. I'm trying to keep my build under 875 (The Newegg prices include tax and shipping. The rest don't). I plan to do some OC (not maxed out) and no Xfire. With this I will be doing light streaming, video editing, and light-medium games (no AAA titles). Aiming for 70+ FPS at 1080p on high for those games (GPU is a refurb that's why it's cheap). I plan to add an SSD later. I've also got a copy of Windows 7 lying around so I don't need to buy the OS. I have 2 questions: How will the PSU do when I OC and how far can I OC? Thanks!

Personally can't not recommend an Antec power supply, mine blew up. Everything else is fine imo. (I personally like Sapphire's r9 280x better and its around the same price /w rebate)

I'd recommend the Xeon 1231 v3 for this build... save a few bucks and maybe get up to the 290 level.

The projects never end in my line of work.

In the text I said everything that is from Newegg includes tax and shipping. The Xeon is the same price w/o tax and shipping so it's not cheaper. I don't need a 290. If I can get it great, if not oh well.

Ok thanks for the heads up. But I don't do any MIRs. They are a pain.

It's actually one dollar cheaper on the US site, but with much better performance per $ in this case. You lose OC, but get an i7 (essentially)

He wants to overclock tough

If he's not doing max-level OC, you can have some fun with the actual clock. Just not multiplier-based.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Hyper 212 Evo doesn't overclock Haswell products with a stable clock. Not powerful enough..It can overclock, but it's just not stable.

PC and Peripherals:

Intel Core i3 4150 @3.5GHz - ASRock H97M Anniversary - Kingston Fury HyperX Black 8GB DDR3 @1866MHz - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 G1 Gaming 2GB GDDR5 - EVGA 500W 80+ Certified - WD Caviar Blue 1TB - WD Caviar Blue 160GB - Lian Li PC-50 - Linux Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS - Acer P221w 21.5" 1680x1050 60Hz - Kingston Fury HyperX Clouds - Razer Deathadder 3.5G - CM Storm Quickfire Rapid w/ Cherry MX Blues

You must be implying that the Hyper 212 Evo doesn't cool well enough. I beg to differ.

Heat can cause instability, but the CPU doesn't give a shit what cooler is being used as long as temps are kept down.

That aside, it can only be your own fault for an unstable OC.

Alright. Thanks.
