Ethernet Connectivity issues with new PC

My OS is Windows 8.1 64-bit

My Router is a Netgear DG834G v.3

My motherboard is an MSI Z97 MPower Max AC

Yes, I've tried reinstalling network drivers

I've also tried different cables into different ports on the router

I'm using Firefox, but there are issues connecting to the router on IE too

So my problem is that there seems to be some connectivity issues, but only in certain situations or very intermittently. Sometimes I'll try to visit a website (just any, not a specific one or anything) I know to be fine and I'll get the Server Not Found type message and then after hitting "try again" a few times it'll load fine, it isn't happening a great deal, but it's often enough to be annoying. Also, when logged into my router it's very picky about which tabs it will load, the Router Status and Basic Settings tab will far more often than not just refuse to completely load, it'll show the top couple lines and then reset/time out, but other tabs like Logs, Diagnostics, etc load fine every time. Something that seems odd though is that there don't seem to be any problems when streaming or downloading things, the speed of downloads doesn't seem to briefly drop right down or anything, and streams don't suddenly cut out or start buffering. I don't experience any of these issues when connecting to the router on my laptop

Sounds like you have a bad router, but I'm not sure, it seems like it's a very specific problem, I would try to buy a cheap router and see if that helps

My setup: i5 3570K  - Corsair H100i - MSI Z77 GD65 - 256 GB Samsung 840 pro SSD - Corsair AX760i - Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce 2GB - 4x4 GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RAM - Corsair Carbide 500R (modded side window)

I'm having the same issue but over wifi, we just had bt infinity connected and a new router has been set up, and as with you every so often we get the server not found, when this happens I click the network settings and it says can not connect to network, then after a few minutes it re connects. Tried drivers etc with no luck.

Are there any other computers hooked up to that router?  Are they having any problems?

Because it might be the signal coming in to the modem.  Winter has a way of doing that.

We have four systems on the network and it happens to all of them at the same time, which is why I'm assuming its the router, but we only had the service connected a few days ago. So is the router faulty or could it be the network trying to settle? (I know nothing about networking so sorry for silly questions)

@ThomasD

No, no other computers connected by cable. Three consoles and the PC take the four cable connections and the rest is wifi, and the consoles aren't having any connectivity issues I've noticed, nor anything by wifi. The computer that this new one replaced was hooked up to the same port and everything and had no issues (up until the 8th of January when the old PC died).

In your case I'd want to have the service to the house checked before I blamed any hardware.  A bad switch on the ISP's side can go in and out quick enough to lose connectivity, but not long enough to cause the modem to recognize and reset the connection.  This is a problem that often crops up when it gets really hot or really cold.

Nyph, if you are not having problems with wireless devices I kind of doubt it is a router problem, what you describe sounds entirely specific to the MSI.  Have you tried connecting it via the built in wireless?

Yes, I doubted it was a router issue myself, I even tried using my old Netgear DG834 v3 (non-wireless one I kept as a spare) and had the same issues. I haven't tried using it over wireless because I don't currently have the antenna that come with the board.
