My current GPU is EVGA's gtx 730, and AMDs a8-6600k for my CPU. I'm looking to eventually upgrade them to a gtx 960 and an a10-7850k. If I were to upgrade one of them now, which one would give me the biggest boost?

(note that I already know that I could be getting a better GPU for my money, it just works already with all my other components.)

Well, most GPUs will work with your hardware out of the box. The only setups that wont are going to be extremely high end setups requiring either small nuclear reactors to run, or a half dozen PCIe slots.

Honestly, the Graphics card will make the bigest impact. The R9 280 is by far and wide faster than the 960, and if you can fit the usually larger sized card in your system will give you much more performance. I understand if you want to stick to the nvidia card, after all we all have to indulge our fanboyism some times, but in all honesty I would see no reason to do so here :3

thanks for replying, the reason why I don't want to get something like the r9 280 is that I would also have to upgrade my power supply to get it
