in fear of my PC freezing as I type this I will keep it short. for the past few week or so I have noticed that me PC has been randomly freezing while idle, web browsing, playing games, etc. There doesn't seems to be a direct cause from what I am running on my system. while I noticed very on high ram usage I tried to minimize the amount of programs and chrome tabs I have open to eliminate that reason. still the random freezes persist and I'm left with a computer that I can't rely on. Yesterday I ran Malwarebytes to see if there was a virus although it found nothing.

Today I opened up Speccy and found that my motherboard is idling at 128C which alarmed me. Either their is a faulty sensor, there is something wrong with my motherboard, or best case scenario, there is just a lot of dust build up (from what I'm seeing there is only dust on the back of my GPU's PCB). I'm not sure where to go from here as I don't feel like buying new parts, Buying a new motherboard would require me to get a new CPU, which I don't have the money for. I see no point in spending $150 on an "ok" CPU/Motherboard combo but I can't afford to spend close to $250-300 for something decent right now. What should I do?

Thanks for the help!

What part of the motherboard is idling at 128c? And definitely check if there is dust build up inside of the case.

Specs are on my profile page

Teach a man to fish and he ends up sticking a screw driver in a turned on power supply seeing if it still works.        #KilledMyWifeWithABomb            Resolution is just a number

CPU is at ~40C

Yea I highly doubt anything on the board would be at 128C

Start in safe mode and see if it freezes

I'm currently in my system normally, watching a youtube video with 4 other tabs open in chrome. It hasn't crashed, as I said it seems to be random. While I'm at it, should I do any RAM tests?

I think I may have figured it out. Recently I did update the chipset drivers in attempt to fix my pc not recognizing usb drives, it didn't work. I think this was around the time i started having problems. Not entirely sure. How could I go about reverting the chipset driver?

Also I have the Pc running on an open test bench (my physics textbook) the chipset cooler seems very, very warm to the touch, like touching a pot of bioling water.
