Speedtest related question

I have run speedtests quite a lot to brag and joke with my friends but recently something has changed. ( I pay for 75/75 with verizon fios)   for most tests everything would be fine but recently something has changed.    when i test, the download test on the meter is fine goes from 0 to 75 in an instant but the upload is different it starts at 0 then kind of revs to 30 then revs to 50-60 then tops out at the 75 so the final test tells me my speeds are fine but what does this revving effect mean and how can i fix it.    i test on speedtest.net and speedtest.verizon.net if that matters
