For the past month or two I have been having issues with my gaming pc. It restarts or shutdowns when opening some games or even browsing Chrome. I think that it may be a power supply issue but I am not sure. I have ran Prime95 for 20 mins and it was fine but when I ran Furmark it shutdown almost instantly in every case. Are there any other tests I could do to narrow down the cause of these crashes aside from replacing the PSU and seeing if the issues go away? I have a 500w EVGA PSU and my pc draws less than 400w according to PCPartPicker. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/zGVnCJ

Thanks for any and all help given in advance.

when you say shuts down does it shut down or does it instantly power off. Blue Screen even?

What temp are your CPU/GPU running at?

Update your drivers,

make sure your OS is up to date.

It has only blue screened once or twice. Sometimes it instantly powers off, sometimes the screen powers off and the led fans dim and get brighter then the computer restarts. My CPU temps are quite low, max 14.9 degrees. GPU temps are max 24 degrees. I will start downloading some updates for windows now. Thanks for giving me advice

Those temps must not be under load. What are the temps like being used?

I managed to get GPU temps once when Furmark worked for a few minutes and max was like 60 degrees and my cpu under prime95 was 24 degrees

Alright, the temps aren't the problem then. Must just be not getting enough power. PSU is likely worn out. Not sure what EVGA warranty is like, but talk to them about it and see if they can ship you a new one.
