Distilled Water

Go to solution Solved by Ghost,

If they sold distilled water in the UK locally, what would you buy? Would you buy it locally, or have a slightly more distilled water, but you KNOW it is distilled water, not deionised online?

They don't sell distilled water locally but I would buy it if they did. It might explain how it was filtered on the bottle label and how many times.

This is what the process with well filtered water should be: http://www.lenntech.com/water-purification-steps-faq.htm

However water that has simply been boiled into steam and then condensed into water and bottled is technically distilled too and you can make that yourself if you want.

Is it safe to use Distilled water from a physical store? If it is safe, then why is distilled water on FrozenCPU and other watercooling e-tailers so expensive?\

EDIT: I forgot to say that I was going to be using Mayhems Pastel Berry Blue.

They charge more for it because its distilled more. Although there's no way someone without specialist equipment can prove the difference so you are getting the same thing for all you know.

Remember water is heavy and shipping is expensive.

If you are using a concentrate then do not add anything to the water and for mayhem's stuff it might be worth it to get a few pH testers to check the coolant isn't acidic after you mix it.

So both are basically the same, but the one from online stores are distilled more? I can buy a GALLON of distilled water for $0.89 might be deionised though... Is there a difference between de-ionised water and distilled?

A big difference.

De-ionised water has all the ions removed but you still have the uncharged (non-ionic) particles inside. So its worse. De-ionising is also far easier and cheaper than distilling.

However, you can technically use both types in a loop but if you're mixing it with mayhems stuff I would watch out.
