Hello, I recently started working on my cousin his ITX build and I think I got it all straight for the parts that I'm about to order for this tiny but ooh so powerful build :)

I'm getting the following components :

  • GPU : Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7950 OC
  • CPU : i5 4670k
  • RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB LP
  • Mobo : Gigabyte GA Z87N Wifi
  • PSU : Be quiet! Pure Power L8 600W
  • Case : Bitfenix Prodigy Mini-ITX (White)
  • CPU Cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • Storage : WD Caviar Blue 250GB SATA3
  • SSD : Samsung SSD 840

I utilised his full €1000 budget and went with everything I could get and that I think will suit his needs (gaming, browsing, school,..)

What do you guy think about it, and if you have any suggestions please feel free to share.

Kind regards,

Pruxis

@ @DDR3RAMpager @DrunkAssassin

I told him the same about the storage but he's quite stuborn, atleast he'll be paying me to shove in a new hard drive when he has ran out of space ^^

Is there anything else that you could say about it? Or does it look great overal.

I still have my doubts about the cooler that the backplate wont interfeer with the motherboard tray as it's placed in horizontal and the place between the motherboard and the tray isn't that big :/

Anyway the budget on the cooler is around 25 euros.

maybe go with a better cpu cooler (Noctua NH-U12P or corsair h80i). aio-watercoolers look great in the prodigy. gives you a little more room to overclock. Also take a look at the Asus Z87i-Deluxe great features on that board.

Core i7 4820K  |  NH-D14 | Rampage IV Extreme | Asus R9 280X DC2T | 8GB G.Skill TridentX | 120GB Samsung 840 | NZXT H440  |  Be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 650W

Which one do you think is the best?

  • GPU : Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7950 OC
  • CPU : i5 4670k
  • RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB LP
  • Mobo : Gigabyte GA Z87N Wifi
  • PSU : Be quiet! Pure Power L8 600W
  • Case : Bitfenix Prodigy Mini-ITX (White)
  • CPU Cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • Storage : WD Caviar Blue 250GB SATA3
  • SSD : Samsung SSD 840

OR

  • GPU : MSI GTX 760
  • CPU : i5 4670k
  • RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB LP
  • Mobo : AsRock Z87 (Better CPU socket placement than the Gigabyte - for more room for my heatsink)
  • PSU : Be quiet! Pure Power L8 700W
  • Case : Bitfenix Prodigy Mini-ITX (White)
  • CPU Cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • SSD : Samsung SSD 840

With my second build I have the option of buying a Noctua heatsink in the future and that it'd actuality fit on it. (the D14)

I will be gaming on 1080p so I don't really need that much VRAM from the Sapphire, and I don't care about the games of the Never Settle bundle but it's a nice addition to it.

For the second option, you could probably get a lower wattage power supply as a gtx 760 and 4670K pushed to the limit would be hard pressed to hit 400W and with that you could probably upgrade storage or maybe the cpu cooler.

[spoiler=Current Rig:]i5-4670K @ 4.4 Ghz on 1.3v | MSI Z87I | GTX 780 @ 1150 Mhz | 2x8GB ADATA XPG | Samsung 840 250GB SSD | CM V700 PSU | Custom Watercooled in a Caselabs S3

[spoiler=Peripherals:]Mad Catz R.A.T. 7 | Corsair K70 | Sennheiser Urbanite headphones | Corsair Vengeance MM200 | Asus PB278Q + Samsung 22"
