Hello all,

Making a new build for a friend and would appreciate any advice you could give. Its going to be used for gaming, but with a budget of under $500 but the cheaper the better. Ignore keyboard, mouse and operating system. He's not expecting to be playing everything on max at this price but its a good starting point for him. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Tell your friend to cough up the dollars. If he can't, remove one of the 4gb sticks of ram. If he can't still do it, reduce the HD storage size to 500gb. Otherwise, tell him to save more money.

If you're gaming, trust me its worth spending more/saving up more to get a better GPU. A 750Ti/R9 270 is the absolute minimum for 1080p, if you want respectable results. Again, trust me, it pays off.
