Old HDD into a current pc

Hello,

what will happen if i install a HDD with a fully working Preloaded version of WIN 7, my PC is running WIN 8.1 PRO, i just want to use my old hdd as a mass storage,

when you boot your computer you will most likely asked which os u want to boot, in which case you choose windows 8.1, then resume to format the hard drive in windows when you are in. so nothing as long as you boot the correct os, you should be able to format it with no issues.

I'm kinda ballsy with this, since I give it power, boot up, and then hotplug it when I get in the OS (basically plug the data cable in once I'm in Windows). Haven't had a problem yet.

you can just wipe it off by searching disk manager and select your old hard drive, delete the current partitions and format it to how you want it (its easy just follow the wizard that windows uses)
