7950 overheating

Go to solution Solved by ItsDenn,

So I just applied the mx4 and with the same way of applying and same test with pretty much identical conditions my gpu now went to a maximum of 60.0 C. That is a 20 C improvement!

That is pretty amazing if you ask me.

In my experience with my 7950, it's a very cool running chip. Even with it overclocked to 1ghz and +20% powertune, it'll hover around 65C with auto fan control in battlefield 4 with max details at 1080p. In League of Legends, I'm usually around the 50's. Room temperature is around 15-20C. I did change the thermal paste from the supposedly good PowerColor one to MX-2 a couple months ago.

To apply thermal paste, I just squeeze a small amount out and just try to detach it onto the ihs or die and then I just put it hsf back on.

I have similar,.. but a warmer room, ambient of 25-30*c though... but topped out MAX of 70-72*c after it all leveled out over time... Usually in a non demanding game, 66-70*c

Sweet as result... Good stuff!

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
