You would probably have to spend something in the realm of 40$ for a decent controller. What I would recommend is buying a wireless Xbox 360 controller and then buy a wireless dongle for it then hook it up to your PC that way.

^ This. I personally use a Logitech F710 and I find it really nice for racing games. :)

Also, I didn't like the layout of the 360 controller... Anyway, you really NEED to spend around $40 for a controller that is decent and doesn't feel like a cheap piece of plastic that you can snap in your hand...

I was looking at that. So do you recommend the Logitech one? How's the battery life?

Well I'm still on the batteries that game with it months ago... The triggers are a bit stiff which I like and it is a bit heavier than the PS3 controller. Also, it may seem a little bulky at first but you'll get used to it. :)

Edit: Oh, it sometimes has connections issues so I recommend to use the little dock for it and keep it relatively close to it... It generally doesn't do it, but sometimes it'll happen.
