Is there a reason your going AMD for your cpu when you can get a locked i5 for the same price which will yield better fps and last longer? Also I would get periphials that are on the cheaper side to allow for better pc components and just get better keyboard/mouse later. Do you really need that optical drive for anything other than installing windows?

U should be able to play most games at 60fps+ however I would not recommend overclocking in that motherboard, if you want to overclock (which you haven't mentioned) get a 990fx board instead of an  970. Also I think your spending too much money for the keyboard check out others and consider adding your list to pcpartspicker.com

I would be highly reccomending on saving a bit more. If you save about 70 bucks more, you could buy a 970, you could then easly play games about at 100 fps, thats why the 144 hz monitor. Oh and don't buy a mechanical keyboard right away, membrane still do the job, spend that money on parts

Here ya go its under $1000 after rebates. As SimpleG said you don't need a mechanical keyboard right away so I included a standard backlit keyboard/mouse combo just incase you dont have either right now they can at least get you by until you can afford what you really want. It frees up more money for better parts. The mobo I figured for this is a z97 mobo even though I included a locked cpu the reason for that is it was only a $10 difference so why not incase you ever want to upgrade to an unlocked i5 or i7 later.

you will be disappointed spending $1000 for a amd gaming rig with only a r9 285. 8350's run stupid hot that cooler would actually be worse than the stock one. in all honesty just get a 2014 i5 it has much better performance and same price.

this is a setup you would be very happy with for quite a while, and actually you could cut out the ssd as its not needed right now and then you have the same price range for a much superior pc.

you can even use a non-Z board and use just 1600 memory kit to go lower

the 1866 memory in that color was the same price as the 1600 so it makes more sense to go with the higher if its the same price. I kept the colors of the build the same incase he decided to change to a windowed case. And the Z board was only $10 more than the cheapest H one so why not allow for more options on an upgrade path later on than being stuck with only locked cpu's.
