Buying GPU second hand?

Hey, I was wondering if it is worth it to buy a used GPU? I'm going to buy an R9 290, the cheapest one in my country is the MSI at 260 euro's, but there's a guy selling a used Sapphire one for 180 euro's (roughly 100 dollar difference). I was wondering if it is worth it? He claims to have only used it for several months. He also lives nearby, so I'm not going to have him send it but I'm going to go over to him to buy it directly, which also means I can see it with my own eyes. He will also give me the recipe for it, it still has warranty until 2016 he claims. Would you buy it if you were me?

As long as his cooling wasnt terrible it is worth it.

ask to see it running, if it runs well without overheating etc then why not.
