Hi guys, i need help choosing my next pc setup.

Im currently running a terrible motherboard that i got with my original computer which need replacing straight away(breaking).

My CPU is amd Athlon x3 450

And a gts 450 graphics card

now i will have to upgrade all these parts at 2 separate times (birthday and christmas) this means i will need to buy a motherboard straight away and then a graphics card later if i buy an intel cpu. however if i get amd i may be able to unlock a 4th core on my cpu and then get a graphics card and a CPU later.

my options are.

AMD route

i will need a motherboard preferably 990fx and i will get either fx 8350 or 8320 any money saved will be good.

Intel

i would like either a z87 or z77 motherboard with a i5-4670k/ 3570k

the graphics card could be a 7870 7950, 660ti or gtx 760.

My pc will be mainly for gaming and im trying to get my components to last as long as possible.

Whats your budget?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I believe you should go with Intel setup, just get a cheap motherboard such as gigabyte z77 d3h or msi z77a gd43

And get i5 3570k to go along with this motherboard.

Or you could go with haswell setup, but it doesn't guarantee that higher performance from ivy bridge.

And as for the GPU, i always advise to get AMD as they are best band for the money right now.

Get 7950 or if you are low on budget get 7870.

This is just my opinion.

I would get a Z87 board like a Asus Z87-A board which is a budget board for overclocking with the 4670k and a 7950 like a MSI Twin Frozr 3 7950 or the HIS IceQ X2 7950 and overclock it to get the best performance and beat the reference 7970.

If you want all three things and just gaming etc, then a FX6300 is easy capable, and it runs cooler and less power required. 8 core is extreeme and for gaming its not required.

Lots of FX990 boards out there, so personal choice. as for graphics look at an Evga 660ti with atleast 2 gig if not 3 gig of DDR5 ram onboard should be a good start. Plus you need something left for a good cooler as stock cooler's not that good.

got to love Asus components
