BenQ S.Switch Disabled?

Go to solution Solved by CyanideInsanity,

If you've got the monitor currently set to gsync the switch won't work. It only works when you change the engine to classic unfortunately. I found it annoying at first because I wanted to use the scroll wheel to navigate the menu but I've gotten used to the touch buttons or whatever the actual name is.

I recently bought the BenQ XL2420G from a professional and secure retailer in my country. However after installing the monitor the S.Switch doesn't work. The manual is very limited and apparently it should work by itself. I've tried to search for drivers and reconnecting the Switch but nothing seems to help. Already contacted BenQ Tech support but no answer yet, maybe you guys can help me?

S.Switch seems to be available for XL2420T and XL2720T models too.

Cheers, Gonzo

I was in the same boat. It worked when I first plugged the monitor in, but didn't try using it after changing to gsync till the next day. Its really a bit disappointing that its incompatible with gsync active. I wonder why though... Maybe its connected only to benq's scaler. I really don't know much about displays so I'm pretty clueless here.

It should work with the display menu right? Seems odd that it's connected to the mode you're using since that (to me) does not seem connected to your display menu. I dont know much about monitors here so I'm just guessing. Gotta say that I find is dissapointing from BenQ that this feature is somehow disabled just because you switch modes. The whole point of buying the G model is to use G-sync right? Why ever change it to classic?

actually being able to turn gsync off is very useful in games that aren't very demanding and you know the graphics card can keep up with the FPS... because the Gsync can add a few milliseconds to the response time of the monitor and while using the classic mode it lowers the response time to just one millisecond which is very useful for in FPS games like Counter Strike for example...the only time I turn gsync on is when I am running a game thats really demanding on the GPU and my FPS drop or i am getting really bad screen tearing

Unfortunately there isn't much BenQ can do about it. G-SYNC only works via NVIDIA's G-SYNC module which runs NVIDIA's firmware. The customization a monitor vendor can make while the monitor is in G-SYNC mode pretty limited. BenQ can add lots of features but very few of them will be able to operate as long as G-SYNC is active. In fact the only reason the monitor has more than a single DisplayPort input (the max that the G-SYNC module supports) is because BenQ added an entire second controller which is why the monitor is so expensive. BenQ doesn't have much control over the G-SYNC module so all the extra features they add are only available when using the second controller. But in G-SYNC mode everything goes through the G-SYNC module, so none of that is available.
