Hi guys I'm planning to build my first PC, but im unsure of whether my choice of hardware will fit well together, or should i be getting something else that may be of better value.

1. Budget & Location

I'm only planning to build the CPU as i already have all my peripherals. Hoping to keep it below SGD$2500. Also im probably only able to get my hardware from http://www.mynextcomonline.com/ due to shipping limitations in Singapore.

2. Aim

My aim would mainly be to use the computer for work and some gaming (Dota 2). I do interday trading and i'm currently running 2 monitors. Alot of what i do will require processing power for excel and stuff. So optimally i need the computer to be able to do alot of multi tasking. Also im planning to add more 3.5' harddrives to the set up in the future, so i was wondering about the power supply that i may require.

3. Monitors

I am currently running 2 monitors at 1920x1200 each

4. Peripherals

I dont really require any peripherals other than windows 8.1. Currently using a Ducky shine 3 and a razer Mamba

5. Upgrading because i am currently using my macbook pro to run the entire set up at home and windows is getting really slow on it. Would like to upgrade to improve productivity.

Currently i've short listed some items that i was planning to use, do help advice on my choice!

Fractal Define Define R5 Titanium ($141)

Intel Core i7-4790 Processor ($417)

Asus H97-PRO GAMER  ($239)

Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 2400MHz C11 Memory Kit (CMY16GX3M2A2400C11A)   ($249)

Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5   ($589)

Seasonic X-750 ($193)

Crucial M550 256GB 2.5-inch Internal SSD ($240)

Seagate 3TB SATA 6GB/s, 16MB Cache, 7200RPM ($146)

Thanks guys!

Hyper 212x isn't needed. Just get the EVO and unless you're overclocking, no aftermarket cooler is needed at all.

Case is a bit balls to the wall, could be spent on something better.

You have an Z series motherboard which is no different to the H series (which is generally cheaper) besides overclocking. Get a H series motherboard or a K series CPU.

You don't need 2400mhz RAM, you could save money by getting 1600mhz and spend more on the GPU.

Power supply is more than you need.

There are legit ways to get Windows 8 cheaper and OTHER ways to get Windows for.... free..

So basically u are buying my pc minus 2tb storage, less lower freq ram and cheaper mobo.

Not sure if u need 2400mhz as only software mentioned is MS Excel. I think linus made a video and confirmed that after a certain frequency limit u dont get any performance improvement.

If u dont need wifi on ypur mobo then go with mine, since u gonna be using single gpu and wont need 8 6gbps data slots. Also H series mobo is fine since the chosen cpu doesnt overock (when i built my pc the 97 was new and H series wasnt out at that time)

I hope someone helps u with that ram as to me it seems overkill (2400mhz) if u want to save some money.

My gtx 760 has problem running two monitors when i game (i drop fps in league of legends) so i had to plug one monitor into mobo to use my iGpu.

@Tim Drake the site he is shopping from doesnt offer regulat evo 212 i checked otherwise i would say the same.

Thanks for the advice guys! i dropped the CPU cooler as i dont plan to overclock. Also i've changed it to a H97 motherboard. With the spare cash what GPU would you guys recommend? Also, i'm not sure if im choosing the RAM correctly. I just changed it from the 2400mhz to the 1600mhz but the price difference is only $4 haha. Also if you guys have any better cases to recommend im open to suggestions! Only requirement for the case is that i need around 8x3.5' bays

You could switch to a really nice GeForce GTX 970. (note: Strix version might be your best bet, it's COMPLETELY silent when you play DotA 2)

Laptop: Intel Core i5-4200H, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce 840M

Desktop: Intel Core i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Should i change my case to a fractal design define R5?

Thats a lovely silent case. I highly recomend it.

Its interesting thay 2400mhz down to 1600 is only 4 dollars in your country.

If it's only $4, go for it.

Hi, I've decided to go with the Z97 mother board. I was wondering what the maximum number of internal drives i would be able to attach to the mother board be. Hopefully someone could help me out here!

You could check it on its manufacturers website.

The number of SATA ports, 6gbs for SSD/HDD and 3gbs for HDD/DVD

For the motherboard, personally, I went for a B85 PRO GAMER from ASUS, out of the box its compatible to Haswell Refresh processors and If you're not going to use M.2 drives for lets say 3-4 years, just go with a B85 PRO Gamer, more features and cost a little less.
