Hey guys,

So I'm considering saving my bills, and just going balls to the wall with white/black themed build.

I've been looking into saving and getting a 4790k, I was looking at the VII HERO, etc (issue being it's red, but I don't know how bad that would look).

But for graphics cards I've been looking into the Galax HOF cards. They. Look. Amazing.

Does anyone have an idea how they preform? And how loud they sound? They appear to be decent cards, but not used much. Also, I currently have x2 1080p monitors, and plan to get another eventually (this bill just keeps climbing, jesus). But if I were to go with the HOF cards, would I be best off biting the bullet, and SLIing x2 970s, or 1 980?

I'm aware that 970s preform better, but if possible I'm looking to save money where I can, and whichever would preform at 60+fps on ultra settings, on your modern games etc.

Thanks for any input.

Keep in mind this is totally pending. Instead of blowing my entire savings accounts tomorrow, I'm just tucking away a portion of each paycheck, so this upgrade will be a bit down the road (only got about $250 purely put aside for this atm), so this is depending if it comes around where a new line of Nvidia cards/cpu's etc, are being released.

I have a GTX 980 HoF and, the only reason to purchase one is for looks. They are one of the more expensive 980's and as far as price goes there are cheaper cards that offer better performance. Like I said, buy it for the aesthetics because at the end of the day, it's a 980 and they are bawlin anyways.

They aren't loud at all, and perform like monsters. But, there are cheaper 980's that offer the same performance.

I just looked on their website, and $679. Holee Shit.

But it looks so nice.

EDIT: It appears that the 970 HoF is "only" $479. Not sure which would be best to go for.

MSI has a white and black board, called Krait, its not as premium as the HERO board that you want, but check it out, it may have what you need, if it lacks something silly like wireless, you can always buy a wifi card, or soundcard/dac, to avoid painting the board, that what I would do anyways.

EDIT: sorry i went off topic, about the HOF card, i don`t really know, it looks really nice though.

I'll definitely check it out. I don't trust myself to paint anything like that. I just like the HERO because I'm planning to go a tad balls to the wall and build a monster here, but I don't think I need something so extreme for the mobo.

I'll defiantly going to be shopping around for this.

Also, do you think a single 980 HoF could run 1080p ultra on 3 monitors? It's just the 3 monitor part that worries me. I don't see an issue, but you never know...

4GB for three monitors, will be "enough" not at the highest graphical settings or even the second highest.

Going with 2 970's would be a more intelligent option in this instance.

Here's that white and black MSI board

Very sexy, but doesn't seem to be on the "Premium" tier.

It will run 3 monitors, but it may struggle to play ultra on some games. Are you going to be playing brand new games?

If your going to be waiting for a while prices are going to be dropping. And more options will appear, maybe some more white and black cards xD

Yeah, I was looking at it last night. I'm going to keep looking see what I can find. If prices drop, I might go the duel 970 route, or stick with a single 980, or find something else.

Only time will tell.
