College laptop

Hi there guys,

I was wondering if you guys could recommend me a laptop with a good CPU (i5, preferably i7) and a discrete GPU, with at least 8 gigs of ram? Also, a SSD would be a plus. I've applied for computer/electrical engineering and was hoping that you guys could tell me a good laptop for school?

 

Also, I prefer either MSI or Asus laptops. The Lenovo Y510P looks pretty good too, but I don't know if it'll be outdated by this August/September.

you could get that new msi laptop with the dock, that seems like a solid choice, idk wat it is called.  the gs70 is also pretty good, not the best battery but fast and slim.  you could also go with an aorus, i have heard good things about them.

Bad time to buy a laptop, broadwell is coming out in few months (significant battery life improvement).
