Hello Guys,

So I was hoping you guys might be able to help me out with my PC Upgrade. I'm struggling with what's compatible and what isn't. The build is a gaming rig mainly used for League of legends.

Out of what i have I be leave i need to upgrade my motherboard and Graphics card

I live in the UK, Have Amazon prime and have a budget of around £500.

Ideally this build will be super snappy and run LOL at maximum settings at a high FPS with no frame rate issues.

I Have a Blue Black and White colour scene I would like to keep too.

I also intend to run both SSD's in Raid 0. (Any advice on the do's and don't on SSD's In Raid would be ace)

Does anyone help me find comparable Mother Board and Graphics card that are good bang for the buck. :D

.

I will be very grateful for any advice and help. This community always impress's me

Thanks for your Time -Alex

You can literally max out LoL on a potato. So is the intention just LoL? or also other stuff?

I also wouldn't bother with a raid 0 array, plus 8gb of RAM is still plenty.

Do you already own the system which you have outlined above or is that a plan? What is wrong with your current motherboard? As for a GPU upgrade, i suggest a GTX 970 from Gigabyte.

Yes everything here i currently own. I also intend to upgrade the motherboard to use this one in my brother build. Looking at GTX 970's now Thanks. :D

I currently run 60FPS but often get bad lag spikes often. Not ideal :/

Well, at the moment there is no NEW X58 motherboard available for purchase from an etailer in the UK so you will have to buy a motherboard off ebay :S

Mobo i recommend: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASUS-P6X58D-E-X58-SATA-6GB-USB3-s1366-i7-/221650898671?pt=UK_Computing_LaptopMotherboards_CPUs_CA&hash=item339b6c4eef

As for the models of gigabyte i suggest, either the windforce 3X 970 or G1 Gaming 970.

You don't need a 970 for League of Legends, put the money towards a better CPU.

Also, don't get two ssds, just get one, especially if running your OS off it, and don't bother with that m.2 ssd, you're not gonna fit much on 8GB.

Thanks, Do you know any good graphics cards that will do what i need for more around the £50-£200 mark at all, Thanks.

And i didn't quite understand that you ment about the X58 Motherboards, is my choice of boards very limited?

If he buy a new cpu, he gonna need buy a new mobo. I think the 950 is still solid.

Thanks alot for the advice, what kind of card would you recommend? and do you think the CPU is letting me down too?

an i5 4690 would be around 2x as fast as his i7 950, it would definitely be worth an upgrade.

It depends on what card you currently have, if its the R9 270x then just keep it.

Yes, your motherboard choice is VERY limited.

In your price range (15 pounds over 200, but trsut me it is a big step up from the r9 280X/ GTX770) , the r9 290 is a very solid choice.

Thanks for that, were would you say i would see the performance difference going from my current to i5 4690.

Many Thanks

No, however in terms of motherboard choice it is limiting you.

If you already have a graphics card or only need 150ish FPS in CS:GO / TF2 then get an i5 4460 w/ H97 motherboard along with an r9 270 and sell (or give away) you CPU.

You can re-use your RAM.

IMO that is exaggerated. It would be more of a 40% jump.

Looking into r9 290 now looks good. Would that be compatable with the rest of the build i presume?

Im currently running: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512

Which is a huge let down.

Ah, then a 270x or gtx 750ti would be a good option if all you're playing is league of legends, hell you could even get an i5 that has intel hd 4600 graphics and play league, though it would be on medium settings or so, it would still be very playable.

League of Legends is not very demanding, you don't need a high powered GPU for it.

Yes, but i would like to bring your attention to my previous post as that would be a much better alternative (especially since you are paying ±130 pounds for a new X58 motherboard.
