Air:

Little to no maintenance

Greater piece of mind

Generally quieter

Relatively inexpensive

Minimal moving parts, therefore much less prone to failure

High end air coolers are as good and better than some 240mm AIO units

Motherboard & ram compatibility are a potential issue with dual large tower units

Water (AIO):

Little to no maintenance

Risk of fluid leaking (rare, but possible)

Generally louder

Only AIOs worth buying (240mm and up) are usually more expensive

More moving parts, therefore more points of failure

High end water coolers are generally better performing

Case compatibility a potential issue
