Current Spec:

AMD FX-8350

8GB Corsair RAM

Coolermaster Hyper 212 -EVO

AMD R9 290 Saphire Tri-X cooler

1 200m front fan and 1 120mm rear exhaust.

Problem looking for an upgrade from the Cooler master Storm enforcer, Wanted the H440 but hear there is airflow problems especially with my components generating so much heat.

What would I need to do to ensure that this case will be cool enough?

Other case recommendation?

I have this case (spec in sig) and have no problems... :) I read somewhere on the interwebz, that during gaming/heavy load, some people take the front panel off and just leave the filter on, so the fans have clear intake :D

What temps are you getting? in the case I have currently my temps are getting to like 63degrees when on Bf4 for like 3 hours

Well, In my room there is roughly 25-26°C ambient and I am veery close to a radiator, but on idle my CPU sits at 28-30°C and when I was playing The Crew for like half a day, the temps didnt go over 45°C, but I have the Kraken X61, if that makes a difference :) and GPU temps dont go over 52°C according to Precision X

Yeah the X61 will make a difference compared to my cheap little air cooler. I did buy the H100i but I didn't test fit it and had to take it back. Shame I don't have enough money to get water cooling and a new case.

Previously I had the Corsair H110 but now it sits in my room, and I will be sending it to Corsair for an RMA... the backplate is utter crap and the small metal threads overspin in the plastic and I couldnt get a tight lock :(

The Kraken on the other hand is perfect, no problems so far :) but to your problem - the 63°C is on the CPU i am guessing... are you using stock TIM? is the cooler seated properly?

Sorry not sure what you mean by TIM probably a silly question. I am pretty sure it is seated properly and I used the default thermal paste that was pre applied

You got it - TIM is thermal interface material aka thermal paste:-D I have the MX-4 for example and its very good for the price...

It's not thermal insulation material, that would be terrible to use as thermal paste.

It's thermal interface material

The H440 does indeed have airflow problems.

If you have $100 to spend, get the Phanteks Enthoo Pro.  Hands down the best case for $100.

I have watched that review and it does have some good features to the case, its just i think its kind of ugly.

Thats unfortunate because the features and build quality exceed any other case at the $100 price point.  Check out the Enthoo Luxe maybe.  Its $150, but have a slightly different look.

I haven't had any problems with the H440. It doesn't have terrible air flow but it doesn't have the greatest either. With triple 120mm fans in the front it moves enough air to cool a dual 270x setup without problems at stock speeds. Once I started overclocking then I ran into some heat issues which I probably could have fixed if I upgraded from the stock fans but I just took the second card out and sold it to a friend looking to build a pc. Unless you are running extremely hot oc'd hardware the H440 will suit your needs just fine. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Coming from the person who thought the human eye can only see 24fps.. not reassuring.  Not to mention, you basically debunk the "passable airflow" with your own experience.  If you can't even run two mid-range cards overclocked because the temps are too high, thats a problem.

Also, in the G10 Owner's Club on OCN, anyone using an H440 gets 5-10C higher temperatures than anyone else on their cards.  As soon as they remove the front and side panels, temperatures return to normal.  The case does not have good airflow.

Thats the problem with these "silence optimized" cases.  They have bad airflow.  While they may be more quiet than other cases, their airflow leaves a lot to be desired.  There is a tradeoff.  Silence for higher temperatures.

I have O problems with my h440 and temps my 970 never hits 55c at full load and if you invest money into some noctua fans the case is great and looks to good.

Noctua fans are $20+ a pop.  At that point, you might as well buy a higher end case.  I'm glad that you aren't having problems with it, but there are a lot of people having problems because of this case, and those problems are well documented.

Case is such a subjective purchase.  And the H440 is a very popular case because of its looks and "silence optimized" branding.  But to say "You won't have airflow problems because I don't have airflow problems with my 165W TDP GPU and case full of $20+ fans" is silly.  If you like the case's aesthetic and want something that is more quiet, go for it.  Just be aware that airflow is something that you need to be aware of.  You cannot hide it under the rug because it is a legitimate concern.  For every person that it works just fine for, there is another who is complaining about high temperatures.

We have fairly "hot" components in an H440 and it's perfectly fine. (specs in profile)

The room its in is generally 25C degrees.  My son was playing Far Cry 4 for a while and I snapped a picture with my camera.  I can post it if it would help you assimilate the numbers, but they are as follows:

CPU -- at some point, all cores peaked usage at 100%, the highest temperature of them was 58C.

GPU -- again, at some point, it peaked at 100% with a peak temperature of 68C.

I put two Corsair SP120 fans in the top exhaust.
