I need help choosing which GPU would be better for my system either the msi 970 gaming or the msi r9 290x lightning im not overclocking anything im just leaving it all stock im going to be playing games like BF4,FarCry 4 and other games some youtube watching streamer watching and movies.

Looking at your build, we need to re-work everything.  The FX8 is not a good CPU for gaming, it will bottleneck that high end of a GPU.  Also, that motherboard you selected will throttle it down hard, so its just not a good match.  Let me rework this for you:

970 is going to perform better

What? A R9 290X is better than a 970. It's comparable to the 980. In games that dislike AMD... that's a different story. But those are but a few, and usually coming from ubisoft.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
