i've had this laptop/tabletconvertible for only a few months now, and it's worked fine all the time...

now i havent used it since  the day before christmas and it has been (on for as far as i know) connected to the charger..

now, when i unplugged it, connected it to the dock and moved it to the table, it said is was completely empty (screent pops up with low battery icon)

when i connected it to the chrger again, it showed me the icon it was fully charged within seconds, and it would succesfuklly turn on, windows also stating it was full, me, thinking this might have been a simple error, disconnected it again

but then it turned off after less than 10 seconds and stated it was empty again...

how and what could be causing this???

please help?

I hate to say it but it sounds like a dead battery, you've probably caused a great deal of harm by leaving it plugged in since before Christmas.
What you should have done is charged it and then unplugged it until you were ready to use it again.

But just in case, go into the BIOS and see if there's a battery test option, or see if there's an option to recalibrate the battery, you might be lucky and it's simply confused as to how much charge is in the battery, but I doubt it.

If you don't have those options in the BIOS or that doesn't work, leave it unplugged and start it up and leave it until it shuts down, then repeat this over and over until it will not power on at all, once you've done this, plug the charger back in and leave it to charge for about an hour without turning it on, and then unplug the charger and try to turn it on.

If the problem still occurs then you have a dead battery and you'll have to get it fixed unfortunately, but because you've had it only a few months Asus should replace the battery free of charge.
