5930k overclocking

Hi, so today I finally sat down and started tinkering a little with my 5930k cpu.

I have so far only done a safe oc at 4.3ghz and 1.3v.

I ran OCCT for half an hour and it seemed stable as I expected.

The temps was nothing to worry about, but I was still a little worried since the temps were suprising,

the highest temp overall cpu temp was 82c which got me thinking "I havent pushed it that far and its at 82c?".

And the highest core difference was 9-14c between core 5 and 2 with core 2 being the hottest at 79c and core 4 following at 78c, while core 5 was at 68c at its highest.

I di realise that the hotter cores could be a result of a not good enough seating of the waterblock if the layout of the cores is:
0 1

2 3

4 5

and 0, 2, 4 being the hotter cores.

So i will be reseating the cpublock later today but keep the clock right now since it seems fine

Charts from the test and screen cap after me cancelling the test after 30min.

Any input, advice, ideas are welcome.

Well 4.3 is an okay OC and not every sample can be a golden one :). We are all part of the silicon lottery. But maybe you are right double check if you have enough thermal compound used and/or the CPU heatsink is mounted properly.

What cooler do you use? That isn't a GOOD temperature but it wont harm your chip (afaik)

Edit: Keep it lower, Intel recommend it going to a max of 66*c

Sig has my setup, but I have a h110.

Yeah i know, like 95c and up is dangerous right?

wow, so low??

What is your airflow like? even with a H110 you shouldnt be getting those temps, also, what are ambient?

As said, ive only done a safeclock so far, have not really oc'd it yet :P

The temps got me figuring tho... Yeah, as i also said, i will reseat it later today. i have a h110 and use arctic silver 5.

airflow shouldnt be bad, stock 750d fans, no hdd cages, sli windforce 970's, top mounted rad.

ambient in my room, no idea ill go get a termomether and get back to that. pc ambient, no idea.

EDIT: the indoor thermometer in another room was 21c, so id say my room is at 20-22c

Reseated, much more reasonable temps, most cores between 26-31c, resetted to stock speed as well just to be safe. Will overclock in a few days or hours of use so i know its seated properly.

Screenshot of temps now(at stock speed) Also pics of the most possible reason why the temps.... Note to self: Don't use the line/ricegrain method, use the pea method.

so, now i set it to 4,4mhz at 1.3v, still stable, 10min in the test right now.

core 2(starting at 0) is always about 10-12c hotter than core 5.

hottest per core so far is core 2 at 79c according to occt and cpu hottest 81c

could it be that cores 0,2 and 4 nativly run hotter than 1, 3 and 5?

cause they still are after reseating the watervlock.

4.4ghz at 1.3v, ran occt for 40mins, everything worked fine. highest cpu temp overall was 84c, per core it was 82c on core 2(0,1,2,3,4,5)

Temps and such:

loaded the xmp and clocked down to 4.375ghz at 1.3v the hottest it got was a 86c spike so far 42mins into occt.

should i try lowering the voltage to the cpu to see if the temps come down?

ah well, it can render out a 53sec long 1080p 60fps video of me playing cs:go in 1min 55s from AfterEffects 6, so that makes me feel good at least :)
