Im planning a new build for 2015, and I want to know how much performance I'm really going to get from this build. I'm really only looking for 40+ frames at 1080p so I don't need anything crazy but id still like to know what you guys think. Thanks!

The budget for this build is under 1000 dollars. The only problem i have with this build is that the ram is blue. I was going for a Black and red scheme across the whole build.

Better take a good cheap air cooler from Cooler Master. There isn't much point taking such an expensive case for a more value oriented build.

Well i have 30 dollars to kill. I might go for the 212 EVO. Also im planning on doing upgrades in the future. I figured its best to get a good case now or id have to take everything apart if i want a new one.

This is a good cooler.

You should get a decent case, but not an enthusiast one. Something like NZXT 340 or FD Arc Midi R2 would do great, but you have chosen to go with mATX... So I reccomend taking this:

It's a great case, especially at its price. I saw some really high end builds in it.

You can't really use that case unless he switches to M-ATX but the S340 is a great choice.

Also the Hyper 212 EVO is a great choice

Honestly I think you're doing a few things that don't make sense. A $130 MoBo + Cooler setup for a cheap X4 860k? You can do better for $200 for the whole platform. Also, an SSD at this price range is not something I recommend. You're sacrificing real performance parts (GPU/CPU) in order to get better boot/load times. That's not a tradeoff I'd make. Lastly, your case is very expensive for a build of this price. Your case has no performance features, it just holds things and has air flow. You can get by with a way cheaper case. I'd also probably swap out Win7 for Win8.1. It's just better. This is what I'd do if it were me with your budget:

It's basically better in every way that matters, except it doesn't have an SSD. Honestly you can get by without it. It's not terribly important. It sure makes things FEEL snappier and way better, but objectively it doesn't do anything in-game.

Id like to add an aftermarket cooler on top of that. Perhaps the 212 EVO like I was planning on using before. Also what if I was to switch off the GPU for something that fits the color scheme more. Perhaps the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 4GB WINDFORCE? Finally, the LTT video reviewing the S340 said that the HDDs weren't being held down very well. Anything else?

An aftermarket cooler is only necessary for aftermarket clock speeds. The i5-4460 has a locked multiplier and so it is perfectly fine to use the stock cooler.

Swapping GPUs will be fine. I only chose that one because it is the cheapest R9 290 with a decent cooler.

The HDDs aren't a problem. This isn't a rig that you move everyday. Honestly, the plastic window would be my concern since it can scratch easily, but so long as you're careful (or don't care about looks), it's fine.

Okay so this is what I have so far. I switched to HDD so a SeaGate Barracuda 500GB. I changed to PSU to a Corsair CX 500W, and added 3 fans for intake. Another thing is that I, reluctantly, kept Windows 8.1. Ive heard a lot of bad things about it so im kinda unsure to go with it but if it is faster then ill take it. Finally I changed the GPU to a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 4GB WINDFORCE. Anything else before I buy everything?

By the way, while it's perfectly reasonable to switch to a more aesthetically pleasing R9 290, the GTX 760 makes no sense. It's way overpriced, and significantly worse than the R9 290. WAY worse. Stick with the R9 290, although you still have you choice of brands.

I really just dont like the color. Is there anything else that fits more into the color scheme? Im willing to give up a few frames for it.
