I just got my PC and for some reason, when I leave my PC unattended for more than 10 minutes, I come back with a surprise on my screen, an error message saying my PC shut down unexpectedly. When I went to check the event viewer, I had an Error 41 and a lot more Errors.Tell me if you need the Event IDs for the Errors

EDIT:I added the errors

how would it be if it was a picture?

Pictures are fine.

I had somthing like this happen to me awhile ago, it had to do with some corrupt drivers on an external USB drive... do you have any external drives that could be causing the problem?

Long time Linus fan with too many different forums to keep track of LTT's.

External drives? As in External HDDs? I also attached the pictures in the 1st question

Yeah, I had an HP backup HDD that was causing nearly constant bluescreens. Do you happen to have any external storage devices (HDDs, Backup Drives, USB Drives that are constantly plugged in?)

What are your cpu and gpu temps at idle? Check task manager and look to see if there are any suspicious processes that are taking up a lot of resources. How much is memory usage showing at idle? When or if you have time, let us know your computer specs! Hope this helps.

Memory is 4.5 GBs on idle and my GPU and CPU temps are just a tad bit above 47 celcius.

Event ID 18 looks interesting. Maybe scan through the solutions from this page and see if any of them work. I'd also do a hard drive check and a memory test.

I can type out some step by steps but which one are you stuck on?

Also it has been a while since I've used EasyTune but i think there is a defaults button on the top on the tab with the green, yellow, red lights?

Default looks like it leaves the clock alone. The I7 4790k says 4 GHz on the box but its turbo boost speed is 4.40 which matches what default is leaving it at. Any other steps I can help with?

Could you take a look at the V-Tune application. I just installed it.

EDIT: But I remember the 4790K to have 4GHz as it's base clock

Google shows a lot of different hits for VTune. Am I looking at Intel's tool to find out more detailed information related to the Big O of a program? Event ID 18 is related to a hardware issue so I don't think an application would be responsible for the issue at the moment. If your BIOS is update, and you're not overclocking, making sure all drivers related to the chipset and motherboard are installed would be the next easiest thing. Can you also give us more detailed information about all the components in your machine? Motherboard, RAM, HDD / SSD, PSU, GPU, etc.

4.4 GHz is where the CPU will turbo boost to with idle thermal conditions. Even locked I5s have turbo boosting and it isn't considered overclock exactly since it is part of Intel's binning process when selling you the CPU. You can see the turbo boost at 4.4 GHz here.

A screenshot or direct link works. Have you already downloaded all the drivers related to your motherboard from Gigabyte?

The app center doesn't install drivers. You'll need to select your operating system on that page and download all the relevant drivers so your hardware will communicate properly with each other. If the crashing with Event ID 18 continues we have to move on to doing health checks on individual components. Everything VTuner is showing for the GPU seems correct for what is stock on the box. If your gpu / cpu isn't overclocked it is best we move on down the list for other things which can cause an event ID 18 error.

I have everything installed from their website in my PC now with AppCenter... Now let's get into what caused the error

Missing drivers was one of the things that could have caused the error. So far we've marked 5 things off this website's list under "User Actions" for things that may fix this issue.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3567.event-id-18-microsoft-windows-whea-logger.aspx

Now if it stops happening then it was probably from missing drivers. If it continues then we need to keep going. If you want to run a health test on the hard drive to make sure it passes just follow this link:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors

I would select all options for scanning. Note this test will take forever. Upwards of an hour per TB of space. If you want to find out if your RAM is "good" then use this tool:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

I would do at least 3 runs of extended tests. Please note passing this test doesn't mean your RAM is good, it just means it didn't fail. There are also 3rd party tools that give better diagnostics but these are free with Windows. I use System Mechanic myself, they have a free version but I don't know if those tools are unlocked in the free version.
