Budget for a custom cpu loop

Go to solution Solved by Ghost,

I assume you want to get the cheapest loop possible considering you are budgeting it out.

  • Get a Laing DDC pump. Its cheaper and just as reliable. You will take a tiny performance hit but nothing noticeable.
  • Get a pump and res combo. This will give you better performance and save you money on two fittings between the pump and the res.
  • Get the cheapest 360 radiator you can, not much between the cheapest and most expensive one.
  • Waterblock is fine but I am starting to see a Swiftech trend. There is nothing special about swiftech. Being a fan boy in watercooling is not a good way to save money. However, a waterblock is all about looks so if you like the Apogee HD, stick with it.
  • Get standard EK compression fittings. They are good and they work.
  • Pay a bit more for tubing. Its important, don't cheap out on it. If that is good tubing then make sure you buy enough.

Im spending $300 on a custom cpu loop

Swiftech mcp655-b Pump- $73.99

Swiftech mcres resivior- $24.99

XSPC RX360 radiator- $94.99

Swiftech apogee hd- $59.99

3/8 x 5/8 compession fittings w/ G1/4 threads- 6 piece $29.94

3/8 x 5/8 tubing clear- $9.99

What would you change?

If you want to save some money, then buy cheaper pump.

go with a bay pump res combo if you really want cheap but those things are louder than delta fans

I think you went with a non-laing pump if that's your experience of bay res's. There is absolutely no sound difference between a bay res and a normal res combo.

Unless you use anti-vibration pads that is but its not a requirement for any pump.

In that case invest more in fittings and tubing. :)

And I would have thought you would be watercooling your GPU at $3000.

SLI connectors are fine. SLI cards will never be cool as the top one has its intake basically blocked. :/ That also means it will never be quiet.

Watercooling is by far the better option if you want to prioritize those two things.

My MOBO has a triple slot space between the PCI lanes so it will be fine
