You can flash a new bios onto it from within the bios. Only catch is that you need a cpu in the mobo to actually access the bios. I would suggest either buying the cheapest cpu for that socket, borrowing one from a friend or visiting a computer shop and asking them to do it for you.

If the bios needs flashed to work with the cpu you are getting, you wont be able to do it. because you need a working to flash the bios. I would suggest to just get a Z97, less of a hassle

You do not need a CPU or RAM in the motherboard necessarily to flash the BIOS. Put the CAP file onto the flash drive(root file system), plug it into the appropriate USB port(labeled), shut down the system, and hold down the Flashback button at the I/O ports.
