I understand you'e on a budget, but single channel RAM is going to feel like molasses... Try your best to get a 2x4 kit. 4GB really isn't enough these days, but 8 should hold you up fine.

single channel memory is fine. if thats all you can afford, its better than nothing although 8gb would be ideal. even 1x8gb is preferred over 2x4gb

the difference between single vs dual channel memory is +\- 5%

in the tech space +\- 5% could be considered margin of error, nothing game changing.

I have hit world records on HWbot with single channel memory beating many people running dual channel. its just as fast. in synthetic or real world tests

single channel memory is fine.

Yes, because I was thinking of 16 GB for programs like Photoshop, after effects, fl studio, ableton and Maya that I use often.

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c9d16gxm this is what I was thinking of getting. If you think 8 GB would be enough for those programs let me know. But keep in mind that I have two monitors (1920 x 1080 & 1440 x 900 or something weird like that, it's only 19") and that I like to do one thing on one monitor and watch YouTube or keep a webpage open on the other monitor.

Yeah, dual channel is usually more expensive for what you said is a +/- of 5%.

Definitely this 4GB really isn't enough nowadays. If you absolutely can't then I guess you could always add some ram at a later date though.

That's what I was thinking of doing, but I bumped up to 16gb to be safe. If you read the list of programs I use, then you will understand why.

Build looks good, you can probably find some less expensive RAM though. $60 for 8GB is the norm, not $80.

Do you think 8 GB is enough based on the programs I use?

8GB will be enough to start, but if you are a heavy user of those programs, you will want to move up to 16GB sooner or later.

The only programs I heavily use are fl studio and Photoshop. My laptop now handles fl and Photoshop pretty well with 4gb. I do want to start using unity 3d and autodesk Maya.

Start with 8GB, but leave room for the move to 16GB in the future.

That's what I want to do, and with the money I save from getting 8gb instead of 16, I think I'm gonna get an ssd as well

Oh yes, absolutely!  Nothing, and I mean nothing will give you that "new computer, money well spent" feeling like an SSD.

It is also SO much easier to have an SSD from the start instead of trying to add one in later and move everything around.

Lets have a look at your final build plan to give it a quick glance, see how its looking?

You're going to have a very hard time running that FX6 at stock with an mATX motherboard.  You need a 6+2 VRM phase motherboard, and it must be ATX.  There are zero mATX motherboards for AMD that are sufficient for their processors.

Do you already have an mATX case or something?

Ok, if you're going to stick with AMD, you will need at least a Gigabyte 970 UD3P which costs $75.

If you can swing it, this will destroy in games and especially content creation.

None of those motherboards you listed will work.  Err.. they will "work" but you will run into throttling problems very quickly.
