HELP PLS! i am building my first pc and I just installed cpu but heat sink is being a pain! its amd cpu so im trying to clip the thing to it but it WONT REACH!!! can i take the heatsink off if the thermal paste as all ready stuck??? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just jiggle it around and the heatsink should come off the CPU.

i just took the heat sink off and the cpu came off with it!!!!!!!!! but i took that off as well. i was careful with the pins but can u give me tips on amd heat sink installations???

Clean the thermal paste off with coffee filters and isopropyl alcohol. Then just follow the instructions given.

Uhh, did you fasten the lever on the CPU socket? The CPU shouldn't have come off with it.

You should just be able to twist the heatsink and it will break free.

If you do take it off, you should clean it with isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth of some kind.

If you do wipe it off, make sure to reapply more thermal paste!

Perhaps watch a tutorial on installing a heatsink for whatever socket you have?
