Hey guys

Recently I've read a lot of good things about the GTX 780 and have been tempted to buy it. The reason why I am thinking about buying it is mainly down to the fact that I regret going down the dual GPU route. (Currently have 2 x Club 3D 2GB HD7870 Joker Graphics Card XT)

I feel like most games currently either don't support SLI / Crossfire setups or are poorly optimized for it. I've also noticed that having 1 GPU helps a lot when trying to keep GPU fan speeds lower / quieter although this is mainly down to me being a silence freak when it comes to fan noise.

Another possible upgrade that I have considered is buying a Cosmos 2 case. I currently have a Corsair 600T which is a perfectly okay  case but I feel that the Cosmos may suit me better in the future for the following reasons:

·         Bigger dimensions which helps when working inside the case. This comes in handy as currently my Corsair H100i is cramped in the top section of my case.

·         Can hold more fans which would directly increase air flow and help with keep low temps.

·         May help support more types of hardware into the future.

·         Better for water cooling is I decide to go down that route.

With all this in mind, my main two questions would be; (in your opinion)

A )  Would changing my GPUs leave me better off in terms of performance?

B )  Would upgrading my 600T to a Cosmos II help with case temps and future water-cooling solutions?

Current PC Spec:

CPU:  Intel i7-3770K CPU 4.5GHz - Ivy Bridge

Mobo:  Asus SABERTOOTH Z77

GPU:  Club 3D 2GB AMD HD7870 Joker Graphics Card XT x2  (CrossFire)

RAM:  Corsair 16GB 1600MHz CL10 DDR3 Vengeance

SSD:  Samsung 840 Series Pro 256GB

HDD:  Seagate 3TB

PSU:  Corsair TX750V2 Enthusiast Series 750W

Case:  Cosair Special Edition Graphite Series 600T - White

Keyboard:  Razer Balck Widow Ultimate Edition 2012

Mouse:  Razer Lachesis

CPU WaterCooling:  Corsair H100i

Headset:  Astro A50s

Any feedback would be appreciated. :)

Thanks

I would definitely suggest upgrading the GTX 780. Check out the performance numbers here:

However, personally I don't think you need to upgrade your case. Cases are really personal preference, so if you would like, by all means go for the Cosmos 2.

aa) gaming wise, yes, the single GPU solution is usually best. SLI/CFX in most

occasions doesn't scale well enough to justify the extra GPU expense. with that

said, the AMD camp does not currently have a CFX patch or work around for the

dual GPU issues (tearing, runt frame-report, etc..). the used GPU market price-wise

is down, so advantages can be had for a single GPU solution.

ab) that answer is no.. the cosmos really isn't any better than the 600T for

water-cooling. it is a bigger case, but has no bigger compartment for cooling option

more over the 600T does. IMO, you'd be trading to a bigger issue for air/water-cooling

than what you have now, a lateral move at best with more expense.
