i've spent about a week and a half going over different builds and changing parts, but i think i've come down to this being the final build (http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/kN3tHx) getting all of it, and a 24" samsung monitor. (except headphones/mouse i already have) from memory express, with $117 worth of "price beats" it comes to a little over $2000. now im debating on if its worth the money in the long run. i know you cant predict whats going to happen game wise, but if the way games are increasing in quality now continues, will this pc last for, say another 5 years?

I would suggest a better psu: EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR or SeaSonic SSR-650RM.

Your motherboard supports SLI so you can add a second gpu down the road if more gpu power is needed. Over the course of the next few years it is doubtful that the cpu will be a constraint except in very cpu intensive games. Besides, predicting what software developers are going to do in two or three years time is less certain than slots in Vegas.

hard to say what will come in 5 years but most likely yes. the h100i is really overrated though. You should consider air cooling because high end dual tower heatsinks provide better temperatures and acoustics and at a lower price.

I disagree. Considering he is getting an unlocked processor, I assume he is going to overclock. I have an h100i and it is WELL worth the money.

Sure, it will be able to play brand new games in 5 years. Ultra quality? No, probably not. But play them, probably.

get an EVGA PSU, ditch the h100i due to it's mounting issues and get a h110

i will be over clocking it, and it seems like a good cpu cooler

I have it and I recommend it. However, I'm not a fan of the Corsair Link software. Still, one of the best coolers I've used for a modest price. It's true it's not as cheap as air cooling, but it keeps it cool.

The reason I suggested the EVGA G2 750W was not for its size but for the fact that it is a better made psu than the RM-650 at around the same price. Same reason I suggested the Seasonic G 650.

PSU only draw the amount of power needed by the system. Within reason having extra capacity is not a bad thing. Having too much extra capacity likely means that the psu will run less efficiently than it should. Too much capacity in this instance would be a psu > 1000W.

He's in CA, your build is $400 or so more than his currently is.

@Etonic - Your build is great. I would reccomend a different SSD, as the V300 has some not so great reviews and issues that have come up.

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-internal-hard-drive-ct256mx100ssd1 this is not too much more and will work a bit better.

There have also been some good reccomendations on alternative PSU's, but yours will work great.

Despite some reports of mounting issues with the H100i, it is still a good cooler. Given that it is likely the most popular AIO around, the number of problem reports that I have seen is awfully small.

well motherboards dont affect performance but instead affect expandability and overclocking.
