No signal?

I got a new monitor for my pc and when I connected it to the pc( Dvi to hdmi cable) the monitor said no signal.

Are you sure the cable work?

It could be that the cable is broken.

What connection did you use before you switched monitor?

The cable is brand new plus this is my first monitor.

So it's your first time starting the system with a monitor?

Try clearing the CMOS. You do this by unplugging the PC from the wall, and removing the motherboard battery. Then hold the power button for a couple of seconds. Then you put the battery back, and connect the computer to power again, and you then start the computer. .

What monitor is it? Does it have different input options? 

If ti does, make sure the monitors input source is set to the correct one (DVI or HDMI, depending on which end you plug in where)

 

If that doesn't do anything, test the monitor and the cable on a different system. One of them could be DOA.
