best gtx 970

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

Gigabyte G1 gaming is the fastest.

If you are seriously going to do a custom loop/removing the cooler, then I would consider going for the louder and not as good EVGA 970 since it will still be under warranty even after removing and replacing the cooler (i'm not sure if the same is true for Gigabyte).

I am planning on buying a new graphics card because my current one (gtx 560ti) is too loud IMO and i just want better performance,

I have already decided that i want a gtx 970 for obvious reasons.

So now my question is: which one is the quietest/coolest/fastest.

my choices are the following:

  • Asus Strix
  • EVGA SC ACX
  • Gigabyte Windforce g1 Gaming
  • Inno3D OC

I also want waterblock compatibility for a future upgrade (sli+watercooling) but I will be using the stock cooler for about half a year.

The prices are about the same in my region so that doesn't matter.

.Thanks in advance.

thanks, but isn't it the case that if the card were to break you can just put the old cooler back on and everything is fine?

No as a lot of cards have a "warranty void if removed" sticker over one of the coolers screws.

The gigabyte g1 version trumps all the other custom ones. However keep in mind that the 970 will have some coilwhine that you will have to deal with. If you're going with waterloops I believe all versions are fine, since EK actually makes full cover waterblocks (and just chip ones too) for those with custom PCBs. I can't give any information on how SLI goes with overclocking settings, but again EK has a wide selection that allows you to do amazing custom waterloops.
