Hi

I recently put my first computer together and everything seemed to be working well for the first week. But it has now developed a stutter on start up where I'll press the start button and everything will seem to be starting up, the lights come on and fans start turning, then it shuts off for a second or so then starts up again and starts working normally.

I have no idea what could be causing this so any help would be great.

This is my system if it helps:

  • CPU
    Intel i7-4790K
  • Motherboard
    Asus Z97-Pro (Wi-Fi ac)
  • RAM
Kingston HyperX Fury Black Series 16GB (2x8GB) DRR3-1866
  • GPU
    Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
  • Storage
Samsung 840 Evo 250GB and WD Black 1TB
  • PSU
    Cooler Master V750
  • Cooling
    Cooler Master Nepton 280L
  • Operating System
Windows 8.1 Pro (student) 64 bit
  •

Thanks

Check for viruses, (I recommend malwarebytes) and make sure you're booting from the SSD.

I have the same build, just finished last month. Does it starts you hear the fans go on and then quickly off and then on again all the way normally? If so, it is normal I think haha It happens to my computer as well.

The fans start turning, my case lights come on, the motherboard Q-code thing lights up and the windforce light on the G1 also light up for a second before they all shut off and it goes silent for a few seconds then starts up again and boots normally

try updating your bios, that fixed similar issue for me.

I'll check my bios but I did update it the day I installed my OS

I'm 99.99% sure it's booting from the SSD and have scanned my PC using Norton 360.

Yes the same happens with me, but is not a long time in between, is like a second or two. I tought it was normal...

You may be right, I just didn't want to be doing any damage to my PC if the power is spiking for a second there at the start. So I thought I'd see anyones opinion on it
