g3258 mobo compatibility issue

so i got a g3258 about a month ago and i tried to put it on an msi z87i but i couldent get the system to post. i used my 4670k on the same mobo to rule out that it was in fact the cpu causing the problem. so at the time i was like "no bigge ill just put it in my main system and put my 4670k on the itx board" so today i wanted to switch them back because the g3258 isnt very good with streaming so i did some research and my itx mobo is supported, but the page didnt specify which mobos had to have a bios update for haswell refresh cpus to work so i figured id give it a shot so i installed bios version 1.8 (latest) but still no luck
