Help with Alienware daughterboards

So my buddy has an old beater 2009 Alienware aurora that needs a serious upgrade. It has a ms 7591 Mobo (Alienware made) and it has a daughterboard  to the right of it in the front area below the optical bays and to the bottom right of all the cables.  I haven't gotten a chance to tinker with it yet but I'm asking people with some experience will the daughterboard not work with a new mATX motherboard or does it have proprietary connectors? Is the Daughterboard even worth keeping and what does it do?
