So i just installed a h100i to cool my fx9590 running at stock speed of 4.7 , but when i ordered a stock am3+ cpu fan bracket, i was surprised to find out that it was made of plastic, i tried looking for a metal one but had no success, am worried that the bracket might melt when gaming for long hours, the fx is a miniature nuclear plant, the hottest its ever gotten on me was 85c, am worried it'l melt the plastic bracket, so has anyone ever been in this dilemma? or knows if am just being paranoid? or am i just being silly by worrying about this? it is my first gaming pc, so i havent had many years of experience in dealing with extreme temps. thanks for any tips and advice.

*edit* derped...

what board are you using?

Your core temps should be vastly different from the area around the CPU. If you're really worried about it get some airflow moving to it, or install a temp sensor. I wouldn't worry about it

Haha, the melting point from regular plastic is 130 degree celsius. This bracket is propably made for higher temperatures, but i don't think it will be an issue.

If you are still concerned then check the bracket every once in a while.

its paranoia.

the fan bracket in no way is an integral part in the cooling other than to attach

H100i to the motherboard securely enough to apply pressure to the CPU IHS.

that bracket will not see any CPU temperatures.

While some plastics will melt at moderate temperatures, the kinds being used here will not.

And as others have said, the heat will be dissipate so quickly and efficiently the plastic itself won't even heat up all that much.
