DSR not working?

I have a MSI GTX 970, and the monitor I'm using is the Acer Predator XB270H (none g-sync version), but whenever I try to use DSR or just downsample the screen will just go black and I have to unplug the display port from the GPU and plug it back in again to get an image back, and the resolution resets back to 1920x1080, any help anyone?
