Hi,
First of all I apologize for my english since it's not my native language,

After all these years playing on laptops and having bad experiences (such as a literally burning laptop), I've finally decided to get myself a gaming pc.
But since it's my first build I had a hard time learning about the pieces and still struggle.

I need your help for my build, what could I change and what kind of psu and cooling system should i get.
I live in Belgium and my budget would be 1300€ (=1618$)max, however I'm trying to save money where i can
The main aim would be a silent and long lasting gaming pc.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Pc parts:

  • Processor: i7 4790k (planning to overclock it later in order to keep up)
  • motherboard: Asus z97-a
  • memory: G.Skill XL Series RipJaws X Series 8 Go (kit 2x 4 Go) DDR3 1600 MHz

or Corsair Vengeance Series 8 Go (2x 4 Go) DDR3 1600 MHz CL9

  • Case: Fractal design define r4 or r5.
  • HDD: Seagate barracuda 7200.14 1To (I don't use a lot of memory)
  • SSD: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120 Go
  • PSU: ???
  • Cooling: ???
  • OS: Windows 8.1

So you don't want any GPU?

I knew I had forgotten something xD

  • GPU : MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G 4 Go

Ps: i don't care about the appearance since the case will be windowless. :D

For cooling a good all in one is the Corsair H100i it is $100 and good. For a PSU anything form a corsair, cooler master that is 500W or above would be fine. What GPU are you using?

<p>CPU: AMD FX-8320 @ 4.0 GHz | GPU: Asus GTX 970 STRIX | RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance LP 1600MHz | Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB (Boot Drive) | HDD: 500GB | Case: Corsair SPEC-02 Red |PSU: Corsair 750W | OS: Windows 7 64-Bit | Mouse: Corsair M65 (Black) | Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB (Black w/ Brown Switches)

dude you forgot a gpu so drop that down to an i5 and use that money and then some to buy a gtx970 and go with an around 700 watt power supply and for cooling a h100i would go great in that rig or a swiftech h220 if you want to water coll that gpu at some point

Firstly, it's a Z97 motherboard. Secondly, it's from Gigabyte so it's a good brand. Thirdly, it has SLI support if you ever decide to throw in another 970 in the future, and lastly it's red so it looks nice with the RAM. Also, the PSU it's fully modular, gold +80, its pretty cheap, and can still keep up if you ever wanna add another 970.

I disagree the h100i is a poor choice compared to other coolers. For a couple bucks more you could get a kraken x61 or a swiftech h220x

i think i will go with the coolermaster 212 fan then upgrade later to kraken x61 (170€ is a bit expensive for me right now)tho i'm not sure it's a good idea.

Alright thanks for the explanation, however as i said before they dont have psu, do you have an alternative?

You could grab the EVGA 750W G2 PSU. It's a bit overkill but it's a great PSU for the price.

Not at all, not many games can utilize the i7 right now. The i5 is the best price:performance for a gaming computer, just grab the i5 4690K if you want to overclock it.
