Safe Overclocking for 4690K?

I'm a noob to any kind of overclocking so I ask this: What is a safe clock speed for the 4690k? What is a safe temp for  it, and how do you know what a safe temp is for a cpu?(Also, how to check temps .-.) I use a 212 Evo as my cooler.

safe temp under max load would be 70-80c max.

 

you can check temps with coretemp. (download and install it then open it and it will show you at the bottom of the window)

overclocking results will vary based on your equipment and the particular cpu, everybodys oc will be diferent.....if you have adequet equipment the sweetspot for the 4690k apeers to be 4.6ghz

I would say that the maximum temperature while stress testing should not exceed 85C. You can check your temps with CoreTemp. Stress testing is done ideally with Aida 64, Prime95 is not supposed to be run with modern Intel processors. Your cooler is not really performance oriented, but I think that something like 4.4GHz is very achievable. Just make sure to test for stability at least 12h, optimally 16-18h.
