so after thinking that my 8350 is just really hot ive been doing some reasearch into FX temps and it seems that HWmonitor dosent like the way AMD calculates Temps, so i ran a quick and dirty (30min ) pass of prime 95 with AMD overdrive, Core Temp , and HWmonitor open ,

which one is right , ?

By looking at it i think that AMD over drive is right aswell as Core temp , because Core temp says 42c and AMD overdrive says 28c (thermal margin ) so 42+28= 70c ( 70c is the max for FX chips i believe ?

anyone got any advice as to what i should believe ?

Thank in advance biggrin.gif

Holy crap, we both have the same motherboard and the same problem. I don't know which temperature to go by, but I always go by the HWMonitor higher temp just to be safe, but I have the feeling that the HWMonitor temp is reading a Socket Temp that is on the motherboard. Not sure though.

Wow, AMD even requires you to do math?

No AMD hate, just bad experiences :D

My guess would be to believe the highest reported temp, unless it's outrageous like 10000000000000 °C. Then you have a broken temp sensor :D

Yes i have just found out that the temp we need to pay attention to is the "package temp" on HWmonitor
