BF4 , gtx970 low gpu usage

MadManMarsBar

so after being very happy with my 970 for a few weeks i decided to do some monitoring to see what exactly my GPU was doing while i play BF4 ( im curious like that )

and i noticed something weird my gpu is only running at about 50%-70% usage, even if i set all settings to low it will sit at a max of 80% , i know that in 64 player servers it will dip , but surely not that much ?

i can get the GPU to run at 99% all the time if i max the game out and put the resolution scale to 200% , but it dosent feel right playing with 30fps on PC ..... i want 60 fps ... lol

is there anything i can do to squeeze some more usage out of my GPU ?

Also i will be getting a i7 (4790k ) and a new motherboard to go along with it , dunno if that will make a difference tho :/

anyone got any ideas ?

thanks in advance :D

you should OC the cpu, why not overclock with a noctua d14 i mean holy balls!

i can rule out cpu bottlenecks, the fx is pretty stong

maybe the gpu is too damn powerful??

CPU is too hot to OC even under a NHD-14 , gets to 57c while playing BF4 , max is 65c .....

I don't understand, the gpu is so OP that can max out BF4 with 50-70% of usage, and you want more because?

Here are some benchs:

Game can be pretty much maxed out in 1440p and you have an average of 62fps

because when i max BF4 out at 1080p i dont get 60 fps ..... it drops down to as low as 35fps .....

Try setting the AA lower, i guess your cpu is bottlenecking.

i think you can reach up to 80 and be fine

CPU bottleneck. I've heard many complaints from people with 8350. It's not fast enough to keep 970 fed on 64 players servers at 1080p.

I have the same problem with 4670k and 290x, but luckily I can use Mantle. Using D3D the game is unplayable.

BF4 seems to be extremely heavy on the CPU. According to test case 2 in this article, posted by DICE, FX-8350 is not able to feed 7970.
