EVGA 770... - 780

Go to solution Solved by dkevelx,

In all honesty, I would just stick with the 770 (or a 7970) rather than saving to get a 780. You don't really need it unless you're gaming at high resolutions.

Considering how people are still using AMD Radeon 5000 and GTX 400 series cards, I would say that yes, the 780 (and even the 770 and the 7970) would definitely last 3 years if you're willing to cut back on quality during the end of it's lifetime provided we aren't playing games at like 8k resolutions or something stupid like that.

As Linus has said, the frequency at which you need to upgrade is lessening because companies aren't really pushing modern hardware all that much, anyways.

So i go to college and i don't have a job but i do get some funds each term to buy stuff. So should i get a GTX 770 now and in 90 day (Before 90 days) upgrade to a 780 paying the difference using EVGA's upgrading program?

What graphics card are you using now? And why not just save for the 780?

If you want to go through the process of shipping stuff back and forth, go ahead, but I'm a lazy bastard so I would probably just save and buy the 780. =P

My PC has an old 420GT i don't game right now cuz i have no money for them. But my point was i have money to buy a 770 now but not enough to buy a 780 if i wait i will be waiting months when i really need tops by next month. i guess i could try the bill me later by paypal and try to pick out the 780. Also do you think that the 780 will last for years to come. like 3 years.
