Hey guys,

I'm kind of new to the whole GPU thing, as I've been a console gamer for years.

So my current setup is:

Intel i5 3570K

ASRock Extreme 4 Z77 mobo,

8GB GDDR3 1800 (I think..) RAM

400W PSU (Need to upgrade this aswell.)

So my issue here is that I want to get a new GPU as soon as possible, but can't decide on which one to get.

I want a GPU that will last me for at least a year, at high or ultra settings in most games (Battlefield, CoD, Assassins Creed, GTA, that kind of stuff)

And my budget for the GPU is around 200 euros (250 dollars)

Is this a reasonable expectation, or am I talking nonsence? And what card would you guys get in my situation?

Also, the max length of the card is 280mm, otherwise I'll have to get cutting into my case haha.

EDIT: Figured it might be of use to post my monitor, its an Iiyama G27773HS 27" 1080 144hz

The best cards around that price are the 270x and the 285 (maybe 280?) from amd, but u'll not be able to play at ultra in 1080p...

The only ones that can play games at 1080p ultra are the gtx970 and the r9 290, if you can afford them, you will have no problems...

rig: i7 4770k @4.1Ghz (delidded), Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz, ROG Maximus VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA GTX980SC, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, Corsair SF600, self-built wooden Case, CoolerMaster QuickFire TK, Logitech G502, Blue Yeti, BenQ GW2760HS

I was already planning on buying a new PSU haha, this thing is ancient.

I might be able to afford a R9 290, but that would be a used one then. (Also, will have to make me remove some plastic stuff to clear enough space in my case.)

Is buying a used GPU a smart idea, or would I be better off buying a new, less powerful card?

@YoshideJong

I recently build my own pc with an Asus gtx 750ti 2gb ddr5.

Its only $150. m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=14-121-855

It gets me about 75fps on bf4 high/ultra and even more when you overclock with asus' overcloking software. At least in my case, it stays at about 65 degrees Celsius when under load. (this is a great temp) I would definately reccomend this card.
