So, first of all I think I need a CPU upgrade. I love the pentium g3258, it has served me well, and it still will because ima stick that badboy in an HTPC because it has integrated graphics (should be enough.)

I'm thinking about getting an i5 4690k, any thoughts or suggestions there are more than welcome.

I was also thinking about throwing another caviar blue WD drive in there to get a raid setup going.

Definetely going to upgrade to 16g of ram as well.

Now, the GPU. I was actually thinking about holding out on upgrading my GPU, although I know I could get a significantly better one for a really good price, I also want to build an HTPC, and with the leftover parts of my old build due to the upgraded parts, I will be well on my way towards completing that since I'll have a leftover 500W PSU, mobo, and drive. My build is in my sig, so whatever you guys wanna suggest please take look  :D

I would get a gtx 970 and wait a bit then get a 4690

yeah thats what I was initially going to go with, but I think I'm gonna try to get the 4690 now and wait for the 960. With the extra cash I'll be able to get a AIO cooler and finally move the hyper 212 evo out.

aio cooler why? the 970 + 4690 > 960 + 4690 + AIO

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Sorry I probably should have clarified a little better, I meant two 960's in SLI, or possibly waiting for the price of the 970 to drop down a little more.

I know this isnt always the case. Linus was just saying in his holiday buyers guide how 970's in SLI perform way better than a single 980, fact is I just dont know enough to actually know what would be more beneficial. So what would your thoughts be on 960's in SLI vs. a single 980? we dont really have benchmarks to go off of yet.

of course in sli they are more powerful but issues come up far more often many things don't support it and upgrading is harder
